A melody and mood that took me, when I felt myself coming to the end of an era, falling out of love, out of work, and out of place in a city that, while I haven’t lived there for decads, I still call home. A closing of doors and stepping outside.

It came forward quickly, and resisted all my attempts to refine it. I brought it to the band, thinking that jamming it around we’d develop it into something more complex, lengthy and weighty.

Instead, the more we played it, the more it sounded like it was, in itself, enough.
